A Vintage Waveny House Wedding in New Canaan, CT

Shannon & Joseph’s wedding at Waveny House was the kind of day that feels less like an event and more like a living, breathing reflection of two people deeply in sync. Every detail felt like them with lots of vintage items from their own collection as decor.

From the very beginning, their vision was clear: timeless, personal, and touched with a love for vintage details. Classic cars, carefully chosen textures (lots of lace!), and thoughtful design elements created an atmosphere that felt both nostalgic and romantic.

Set against the elegant backdrop of Waveny House, the day unfolded with a quiet kind of magic. The team behind the scenes brought everything together seamlessly, ensuring that each element, from florals to music, worked in harmony. Shannon & Joseph’s personalities were woven into every corner of the celebration. I never thought I’d say bring on emo hour, but here there we were.

One of the most charming details came through in the tablescape design, colorful rented goblet glasses, paired with Marie vintage plates from Elite PBS that added a layered, collected over time feel. Shannon’s swan candles, and silver engraved coasters were weaved in as well. It was the perfect blend of playfulness and vintage beauty, exactly their style. KS Sarro painted live portraits of the guests in their colorful dresses as they moved through the night.

But like many great love stories, this one came with a twist, rain.

And still, nothing felt out of place.

Because when you plan with care, trust your team, and stay grounded in what truly matters, even the unexpected becomes part of the story. There was a pocket full of rainbows in that rainy day with all of the florals brought in from Arugula Tango.
